Why Willie Leal, Jr.?

What relevant experience do I have to be a Justice of the Peace?
  • I have proven leadership experience; as a U.S. Army Non-Commissioned Officer (11 yrs.) and as Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Law Enforcement Officer (27 yrs.).  

  • As Senior Special Agent (SSA) with the Office of Internal Affairs (IA)/Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), I gained experience in judicial processes in conducting administrative and criminal investigations leading to administrative disciplinary action or state/federal criminal prosecution.  

  • As a D.C. HQ Chief Program Manager, I gained experience in managing an office, staff and balancing large financial budgets with strict constraints. 

 

Why do I want to be Justice of the Peace?  

  • I want to serve the community by establishing confidence in the Office of the Justice of the Peace (JP) by instituting a commitment to knowledge of the laws, court processes and procedures and implement high standards of the ethics and code of judicial conduct for the JP’s Office.  

  • I want to ensure everyone employed at the JP’s office observes those standards, so confidence, integrity and independence of the judiciary is preserved. 

 

What will I do when elected?

  • I will provide the necessary leadership to generate public confidence in the Office of the Justice of the Peace. 

  • I will administer justice with integrity, fairness, and firmness. 

  • I will ensure impartial judicial conduct.  

  • I will respect and honor the judicial office as a public trust.  

  • I will strive to establish and enhance the public’s trust in the legal system in the Office of the Justice of the Peace.
