I grew up in Poteet, TX...
Right after graduating Poteet High School, I joined the U.S. Army. I honorably served 6 yrs. active duty and 5 yrs. in the U.S. Army Reserves.
I then worked as:

A life insurance agent in Poteet;

A jailer at the Atascosa County Sheriff Office;

A Correctional Officer for the Bureau of Prisons, Phoenix, AZ:

A U.S. Border Patrol Agent in San Diego, CA;

A U.S. Customs Inspector/Supervisor, Brownsville, Hidalgo, TX
-
A Chief Program Manager, CBP Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
-
A Senior Special Agent in the Office of Internal Affairs (IA), McAllen, TX.
I conducted criminal and administrative investigations
I retired as federal law enforcement officer with a total of 33 yrs. of federal service.
I served as Mayor of Poteet May 2019-2021.
I am very involved in the county community. I am currently the

President of the Rotary Club of Poteet,

Commander of the Atascosa American Legion- Jourdanton Post 436,
-
Knights of Columbus District Deputy
I am married, have three children and four grandchildren.
What relevant experience do I have to be a Justice of the Peace?
-
I have proven leadership experience; as a U.S. Army Non-Commissioned Officer (11 yrs.) and as Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Law Enforcement Officer (27 yrs.).

As Senior Special Agent (SSA) with the Office of Internal Affairs (IA)/Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), I gained experience in judicial processes in conducting administrative and criminal investigations leading to administrative disciplinary action or state/federal criminal prosecution.

As a D.C. HQ Chief Program Manager, I gained experience in managing an office, staff and balancing large financial budgets with strict constraints.
Why do I want to be Justice of the Peace?
-
I want to serve the community by establishing confidence in the Office of the Justice of the Peace (JP) by instituting a commitment to knowledge of the laws, court processes and procedures and implement high standards of the ethics and code of judicial conduct for the JP’s Office.

I want to ensure everyone employed at the JP’s office observes those standards, so confidence, integrity and independence of the judiciary is preserved.
What will I do when elected?

I will provide the necessary leadership to generate public confidence in the Office of the Justice of the Peace.

I will administer justice with integrity, fairness, and firmness.
-
I will ensure impartial judicial conduct.
-
I will respect and honor the judicial office as a public trust.
-
I will strive to establish and enhance the public’s trust in the legal system in the Office of the Justice of the Peace.
